O velho caminhou lentamente até a beira do lago, olhou a superfície calma e apenas ligeiramente tocada por uma leve brisa de outono e perdeu-se em seus próprios pensamentos. Seus olhos, outrora vivos e cheios de esperança, estavam cansados e cheios de nostalgia e dor.

- Porquê?

…foi o único som que conseguiu emitir, mas dentro dele uma voz respondeu, prontamente:

- E porque não?

The old man walked slowly to the edge of the lake, looked at the calm surface, only slightly touched by a light autumn breeze, and lost himself in his own thoughts. His eyes, once lively and full of hope, were now tired and filled with nostalgia and pain.
